(I) Classification of St Emilion

(1996 Classification)

ST. EMILION 1996 CLASSIFICATION. Initially drawn up in 1995, this is the most meritocratic classification system in Bordeaux, as it is regularly amended. There are 4 classifications:
Premier Grand Cru Classé (A) - Ausone/Cheval Blanc
Premier Grand Cru Classé (B) - 11 Châteaux
Grand Cru Classé - 55 Châteaux
Grand Cru - Grandioise term awarded to properties below Grand Cru Classé status - approximately 600 Châteaux

(II) Pomerol

POMEROL. Pomerol is the only fine wine district of Bordeaux never to have been classified. However Ch Pétrus and Le Pin consistently fetch high prices. Other highly regarded wines include: La Conseillante, Gazin, Lafleur, Lafleur-Petrus, Petit-Village, Trotanoy, Vieux-Chateau-Certan
